Outdoor First Aid Courses

Lea Green offers a 16-hour Level 3 Outdoor First Aid course, over 2 days. This course is perfect for those working or volunteering in an outdoor environment

The certified first aid courses offered at Lea Green are ITC first qualifications, which is an Ofqual recognised awarding organisation in England. The course meets the requirements of the institute for outdoor learning statement of good practice for outdoor first aid training at band 3.

Many of our two-day 16-hour courses also offer the option to certify for Paediatric First Aid (Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid) at the same time; please check the application form and apply accordingly.

Course Overview
Throughout the course, we will cover topics including the following:

  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Dealing with collapse (with and without breathing)
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Major Illness
  • Torso and limb injuries
  • Environmental effects
  • Heat and cold injuries
  • How to use a first aid kit
  • Outdoor specific scenarios and outdoor incident management

The combined Outdoor and Paediatric course also covers planning for and dealing with first aid emergencies involving children and babies, including child and baby CPR and common childhood conditions / illnesses. Those requesting certification for the Paediatric course will also be assessed on those elements.

Courses are predominantly practical with a significant amount of time spent outdoors, whatever the weather. Warm outdoor clothing is required as well as a willingness and ability to take a full and active part in practical scenarios. The course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance. Qualifications are valid for 3 years.

Course delivery will include skill development, group work and scenario practice along with discussions, presentations, and video material. The emphasis is on a supportive and positive learning environment where participants feel comfortable practicing their skills.

  • 2nd and 3rd September 2025
  • 17th and 18th September 2025
  • 15th and 16th October 2025
  • 19th and 20th November 2025
  • 27th and 28th January 2026
  • 10th and 11th February 2026
  • 16th and 17th March 2026
  • 15th and 16th April 2026

The course will start at 9 am each morning and will run through until approximately 6 pm. Learners must attend for the full duration of both days to be certified. Please bring appropriate photo ID.

£170 (Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid and Paediatric First Aid)

The cost above also includes refreshments and lunch on both days.
